The Quilt BranchThe Quilt Branch patterns range in ability, sizes and styles. They all have one thing in common—clear, precise instructions. The Quilt Branch strives to bring you the very best detailed and illustrated instructions to make your quilting experience as enjoyable as possible so you keep doing it for years to come!
I work with fabric designers to bring you pattern designs that will inspire you to create with the new fabrics coming to your quilt shop every day. Ways to use many new quilting products and techniques on the market today are also incorporated. The latest series of patterns and books, Six Halves Make a Whole, features designs which all start from 6 half-yard cuts of fabric. These patters make the perfect solution to those tempting roll-ups. |

I have been a quilter since 1983. It all began because I was a new stay-at-home mom who needed a creative outlet--and I really enjoy geometry! Now I am a highly sought after quilt teacher for local quilt shops and organizations, specializing in teaching newcomers. I stress the illusive 1/4” seam as the very basis of good quilt making, which brings a high degree of success to my students. I learned the world of fabric by honest hard work at the University of Illinois with a master’s degree in the University Extension Program. I am married to a farmer. We have two children and two wonderful granddaughters that I get to sew for and with!

History |
In 1995, The Quilt Branch started as a consuming hobby and a side job for my now-retired partner Mary Jane Mattingly and me. Mary Jane had informally trained as a textile art student and seamstress for many years. Then she decided to take a quilting class from none other than me. Being one of those successful students, we decided to join forces and share our love of quilting with all of you.
